Flange Insulation Kits Type D For ASME B16.5 RTJ Flange High pressure Class 900/1500

Type D flange insulation kits are specially made for the flanges of RTJ type to be positioned in the ring groove. A flange isolation kit protects a flanged joint from the corrosion from static currents (by preventing a metal-to-metal contact among flanges, stud bolts, and gaskets). A flange insulation kit consists of one special gasket(type F, E, D, O), one special washer for each nut, one full-length insulating sleeve for each bolt and thick plated steel washers for each nut. These components are manufactured in special materials with proper chemical stability, low water absorption and dielectric properties.

The purpose of flange isolation kits is to prevent the (electrolytic) corrosion of flanges and flanged joints that static currents present on a piping system may induce.

The gasket isolation kit consists of a special gasket, isolation sleeves for all the stud bolts and nuts, and special washers. These components are manufactured in special materials with proper chemical stability, low water absorption, and dielectric properties.

Gasket Type:

Type E (Full Face Gasket)This gasket kit provides complete protection of both flange faces. The gasket has same outside diameter of

flanges. This feature will prevent collection of foreign matter between the flange faces to ensure complete cathodic isolation.

Type F (Rased Face Gasket)

This gasket is manufactured to fit only the raised face surface of the flanges. Outside diameter of the gasket is designed to be slightly less

than the inside diameter of the bolt circle. It is recommended that the flanges be wrapped to prevent foreign material from "shorting out"

the flanges.
